My Introduction to Blogger-to-Blogger Awards

An impromptu (and lengthy) blog post for unexpected news. Talk about a surprise for me to find that yesterday I was nominated for not one, but two separate blogging awards by two different people (though they may have been the same award at some point according to this researching blogger).

Regardless, I’m honored, thrilled, and humbled by both.

I would like to thank Errin Krystal, who nominated me for the Sunshine Blogger Award! I met Errin through Twitter, but be sure to check out her blog too. 🙂

Sunshine Blogger Award

The rules according to Errin are as follows:

  • Answer the eleven questions from the blogger who nominated you.
  • Nominate up to eleven wonderful bloggers and write eleven (possibly fiendish) questions for them to answer.

The Questions:

#1. What is your favorite movie/book quote? With a little bit of irony I say “Alas, the first thing you ask me, I cannot tell you.”- Dumbledore, which is not a favorite, but is certainly appropriate, haha. I actually have a journal of favorite quotes, so we’re talking “favorite book” level of not very possibly here.

#2. If you could wake up and suddenly be amazing at any new skill, what would it be? So difficult to choose…blargh, for the sake of choosing something, I’ll say sewing. I’d love to wake up with a lot more skill at it and able to design and wear what I see in my head, and that actually fits me. OOooooh!! or! I would know every and any language, and able to speak it fluently..that would be amazing.

#3. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?  You ask some hard questions, lady. That being said, possibly Scotland, perhaps somewhere in Europe like England, France, or Germany. Maybe Seattle in the US. I haven’t had the chance to scope it all out yet 😉

#4. Plotter or Pantser? A bit of both. I like to have a basic idea of where I’m going, but know that I can add, adjust, run with ideas as they come. Outlines are suggestions.

#5. Do you believe in aliens?  If you’ll allow me another quote , “The universe is a pretty big place. If it’s just us, seems like an awful waste of space.”

#6. Someone insults your favorite book/movie/TV series, you…? Depending on what is said or what about, possibly mock horror. But generally, I ask why someone doesn’t like it, then usually say to each their own.

#7. Vampire or Werewolf? At the end of the day, vampire.

#8. If you were King/Queen for a day, what would you do? I don’t know how to answer this given the fact that I have a hard time understanding how one day would solve anything that I would want to fix, unless it couldn’t be undone the next day…difficult to answer.

#9. What would your Superhero name be?  I knew a comic strip artist a while back who was pretty amazing, and she actually made me into a comic strip book superhero.

The artist’s name is Meg Golding. I miss her, it’s been a long time since I’ve heard from her, but regardless, I can honestly say I’ve been made into a superhero, haha. Other than this incarnation, I’d need to think a while about a name.

#10. If you could have dinner with any historical figure (dead or alive) who would it be? Seriously, you ask some very difficult questions for someone like me. These kinds of questions always make me

…there’s just so many possibilities…

#11. What is the meaning of life, the universe, and everything?

Seriously?

I’d like to thank Body Electric, who nominated me for the Liebster Award. I’m new to BE’s blog, and though I don’t have time to read every post, there’s some great stuff. We connected through a conversation on one post in particular concerning PTSD.

The rules of this award include

  • Sharing 11 facts about me
  • Answering 11 questions by the blogger that nominated me
  • Nominate up to eleven wonderful bloggers and write eleven questions for them to answer.

11 Facts about DMG

  1. I’m probably going to be an aunt for the second time later today.
  2. I don’t drink alcohol, tea, soda, or coffee. Though on very rare occasions such as migraines or for a little caffeine boost for creativity, I may have a literal sip of soda or a few sips of a frappucino, but only if I can’t taste the coffee.
  3. I used to horseback ride, for the better part of 11 years.
  4. I started writing a series of standalone books for horse lovers when I was in middle school, this was while I was home schooled. I will most likely revise and rewrite them someday.
  5. My first niece’s name is from me.
  6. I once had a man come up to me (as a teenager), and shoo me while in a bookstore. With the hand motion and everything. I was just checking out some sci-fi and fantasy, minding my own business. Some people…
  7. I wear tinted glasses outside and inside when it’s brightly lit because I’m light sensitive.
  8. I really miss having a puppyface (what most people call a dog), and would like to have a kittyface as well, even if I’m slightly allergic. Part of me wants a horse too, but logistics and realities can slow that up a bit.
  9. A  friend of mine (goes by Lente Scura), was included in a visual art magazine, and one of the digital paintings included has me as the model. It’s called “Bylar.” Still feels surreal, but his art is beautiful. Always an unbelievable honor.
  10. I have an army of Skelanimals that are next to my bed.
  11. I almost always have a book with me.

The Questions:

1. Who or what is the single most important thing to you in your life? …I seriously have no idea how you answer a question like that. I don’t have many “single most” anythings.

2. What would be your ultimate travel destination & travel activity? Same as with “single most” I don’t do well with “ultimate” because I have no idea. There are many places I want to travel, the ones highest on the list include Ireland, Scotland, France, Germany, New Zealand, and Canada. I want to see ruins, libraries, beautiful places, experience other cultures, practice my rusty other languages…ah, to be able to travel…

3. What’s your favourite way to unwind? Read a book, watch a movie, make some art…

4. If you were a colour, what colour would you be and why? I have absolutely no idea…black?  dark purple? deep crimson?

5. Does anyone in your day to day life know that you blog? What would they think if they read your blog-would there be any surprises for them?! Yes, a few do. I have no idea. Sometimes they read and let me know what they think, but usually I have no idea. I don’t know what they would think and I have no idea what might surprise them.

6. If life had no limitations, what would you aspire to?  I would aspire to create, learn, teach, and inspire. Whatever way I could construct my life to do those, I would.

7. Describe your perfect meal. Location. Company. Food. I don’t do well with these questions. I’m not a foodie. I like french fries?

8. What is the compliment you most commonly receive from others? Intelligent and adorable…I feel really weird saying that, but that’s what I usually get from others. The “adorable” still catches me off guard.

9. Your life’s philosophy in one sentence. The world is my country, all life is my brethren, and to do good is my religion; wake up, kick ass, be kind, repeat.

10. Sum up your personality in one word. Amalgamation

11. I’ll know I’ve made it in life when….I’m able to live where I want with the ability to support myself and give to causes and people that deserve and need it.

And with that, I would like to nominate these lovely people for the Liebster Award:

Jewel Leonard, Errin Krystal, Marge Cutter, J.A. Allen, Surviving the Specter

As other posts have mentioned, these awards have ups and downs. Though they’re essentially like a chain letter in some ways, it’s also a great way to find some new blogs. I’m sorry I haven’t nominated more, but this post has taken a while and I really need to get to other things. Thank you so much again to BE and Errin for their readership and nominations. ❤ Thank you everyone!

  1. What an honor for Ollie to be nominated. He is so happy. When we went out this afternoon he couldn’t stop running around like a crazy dog. He’s so excited. Now he needs to calm down and think about the contest rules and the eleven (yes, 11) questions he has to answer and post to his blog. Woof woof!!
